Senator Bolsonaro is the eldest son of Jair Bolsonaro, the former president who is currently serving a 27-year prison sentence for attempting to overturn the results of the 2022 election, which Lula won. A Quaest poll released earlier this week indicated Bolsonaro at 42 percent support in a potential runoff versus 41 percent for Lula, while a BTG Pactual/Nexus poll affirmed Lula’s standing at 46 percent compared to Bolsonaro’s 45 percent.
